Hi! I am a data journalist based in New York with experience in political and climate change reporting. I am excited to be pursuing a master's degree in data analysis and visualization at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

For more than 5 years I was a U.K. political correspondent for Japan's biggest business publication, The Nikkei and its English publication Nikkei Asia. I reported spot news stories and original features on British and European politics and society, and appeared on podcasts and panel events. I covered the G7 and G20 summits as well as the UN Climate Change Conferences.

Political reporting fascinated me. I had the opportunity to become a member of the British parliamentary press corps, or "lobby" as it is known in the U.K., and attended daily briefings with the Prime Minister's spokesperson throughout the Brexit negotiations and the Covid-19 pandemic. These events taught me the importance of holding authority to account, and to seek out the facts in data.

I grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and studied in the U.K. My first step into journalism was joining Japanese newswire Kyodo News' London office as a bilingual researcher in their sports section.
